Pomeroy Living
History Farm
Tour
The Log House was
built in 1920 by E.C. Pomeroy and his son Tom with trees cut on
the property. It was the family's
third house on the farm and is the second one on this site. The brick chimney and fireplace are all that remain from the
earlier house which burned in 1920. Special features to
observe are the wooden floors, hand-planed moulding, pictures
of
the early family and an extensive collection of English brass
rubbings. Upstairs there is the dresser with a secret
drawer and in the dining room is a very special piece of
furniture that is a bed, dresser, bookcase desk, and closet all
in one. The family has always called it "The
Bed".
To your right you will see the Pomeroy House Gift Shop which is located in the old carriage house (which also served as the wash house and cream separating building). The shop features a year-round Christmas corner, fine English china, and many other unique handcrafted items from the British Isles and around the world.
