Field Trips

We are currently accepting reservations for our spring programs, offered weekdays throughout May, at 10:15 am, 12:00 pm.

Reservations for programs open after Labor Day for the current school year, and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by emailing staff@pomeroyfarm.org . When making your request, please include your top three choices of dates and times, your school and grade level, and number of classes/teachers/students.

Please scroll down for information on our homeschool open house day. Our Virtual School Program is also available year-round for those classes who may be unable to visit in person.


SPRING PROGRAMS 2024

GRADE LEVELS: 2nd - 5th

THEME: Children’s Work & Play on a Pre-Electric Farm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Students will participate in the chores and play activities of primary-age school children on a pre-electric farm.  These include domestic activities and barnyard chores including feeding of farm animals.  Students will also participate in a historically appropriate activity session.  Includes a new week-long curriculum to use in the classroom pre- and post-visit, which addresses Common Core learning standards in Social Studies, English & Language Arts, and Visual Arts. LENGTH: 1 hour 45 minutes

DATES AVAILABLE: Weekdays in May

SESSION TIMES: 10:15am & 12:00pm

COST: $7 per student

MAXIMUM: 60 students (40 recommended)

ALL SPRING PROGRAMS: Chaperones (including teachers) at the ratio of 1 adult per 5 students are admitted free.  With advance notice, exceptions to these ratios will be made for students who require accommodations.

PAYMENT POLICY: We require a $70.00 per session non-refundable deposit to secure your reservation, which is applied to your total payment.  Once we have received your deposit, we will send your confirmation and instructions.  The remaining balance is due upon visitation day.  For schools requiring a purchase order, you may pay the full amount at once (in the event of a cancellation or no-show, we would still require payment of the deposit amount).


FALL PROGRAMS 2024

GRADE LEVELS: Preschool (age 3-5) and K-2

THEME: The Farm in Fall

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: An excellent introductory field trip for young students.  A tractor-pulled hayride through the farm’s Pumpkin Lane with vignettes of “pumpkin people” will delight youngsters and their chaperones.  The hay wagon will stop at the Pumpkin Patch where both students and adults can pick out a pumpkin to take home.  Students also visit the chickens, goats and sheep, go through the hay bale maze and have a turn at the pumpkin flume.

LENGTH: 1 hour 15 minutes

DATES AVAILABLE: Weekdays in October

START TIMES: 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm

COST: $7.00 per person which includes a small pumpkin

MAXIMUM PER SESSION: 60 students

HOMESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE

Wednesday, May 8th & Friday May 24th, 2024

Pomeroy Farm is pleased to announce our Homeschool Open House dates: Wednesday, May 8th and Friday May 24th!  If your homeschool, school co-op or family group has fewer than 20 students, this is your day.  Arrive anytime between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM to experience our fan-favorite program, Children’s Work & Play on a Pre-Electric Farm.  Groups with 20 or more students: please contact our office for program availability.

Grade Levels: Ideal for 2nd - 5th grade (curriculums accommodate K-5th), but mixed-age groups are welcome!

Theme: Children’s Work & Play on a Pre-Electric Farm

Program Description: Students will participate in the chores and play activities of primary-age school children on a pre-electric farm.  These include domestic activities and barnyard chores including feeding of farm animals.  Students (and parents!) will also get to make a historical craft to take home with them.  Visiting groups and families may also sign up to receive a copy of our award-winning week-long curriculum to use in your lessons at home, which addresses Common Core learning standards for Social Studies, English & Language Arts, and Visual Arts for Kindergarten - 2nd grade and 3rd - 5th grade students.

Time: Admission from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Grounds will remain open until 2:00 PM.  Self-guided program takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.

Cost: $7 per student or adult (2 & under free)
