HOMESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE

Wednesday, May 13th & Friday, May 29th

Pomeroy Farm is pleased to announce our Homeschool Open House on May 13th & 29th!  If your homeschool, school co-op or family group has fewer than 20 students, this is your day.  Arrive anytime between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to experience our spring program.  Groups with 20 or more students: please contact our office for program availability.

GRADE LEVELS: 2nd - 5th

THEME: Children’s Work & Play on a Pre-Electric Farm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Students will participate in the chores and play activities of primary-age school children on a pre-electric farm.  These include domestic activities and barnyard chores including feeding of farm animals.  Students will also participate in a historically appropriate activity session.  Includes a new week-long curriculum to use in the classroom pre- and post-visit, which addresses Common Core learning standards in Social Studies, English & Language Arts, and Visual Arts. TIME: Admission from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Grounds will remain open until 1:00 PM.

COST: $8 per student or adult (2 & under free)

HOMESCHOOL DAY GUIDELINES

• Please divide large groups into 20 or fewer
• Wait for the group ahead to finish before entering a station
• Follow staff and volunteer instructions at each station
• Some stations may have brief wait times--thank you for your patience!

TIPS FOR YOUR VISIT

• Dress for weather (sturdy shoes
  recommended)
• Plan 1-2 hours to explore, and participate at your own pace
• Picnic lunches are welcome in the
  pavilion

FARM SAFETY

• Walk, don’t run
• Never enter animal enclosures or ‘Staff Only’ areas
• Gentle hands with animals
• Wash hands after visiting animals
• Watch for uneven or muddy ground
